There's a myth about old Austin. Weird Austin, neon Austin, Austin full of good-timers, kooks and people just wanting to make music and dance a bit. As an outsider, people are always reminiscing to me about this, and I'm always looking. Past the laptops in cafes, past the Waymos, past the $13 beers. It's there, you just gotta look for the signs.
This MTR club is a regular exploration into these spaces. Painted, printed then posted to you. Im also looking to interview some of the musicians, two-steppers, poster illustrators and fellow artists that fill these Honky Tonks.
And also above all- Its kind of nice to get a letter. A letter that’s not AI, not company affiliated. Its just ol’ Mon and her scraggly paint brushes.
